El fin

Don't hate me. I know that it has been way way way too long since I have written a post about stuff. I never even wrote about Christmas in Honduras, a lot of stuff has happened since my last post telling you that we were going to be sent back to the states for hold. Well let me just get it over with and say it I have officially completed my service as a Peace Corps volunteer in Honduras its over!

Here is the official version:
Message to Peace Corps/Honduras Volunteers:

We are nearing the end of your Administrative Hold period and want to update you on where things stand with Peace Corps/Honduras.

A five-person Security Assessment Team spent about 10 days in Honduras, meeting with PC/Honduras staff and a wide range of U.S. and Honduras government officials and NGOs.  Additionally, they traveled outside of Tegucigalpa and met with local counterparts, community leaders and police officials.  Next week Director Williams will receive an initial briefing on their findings and recommendations. I anticipate that this will lead to additional analysis before making a final decision regarding future plans for PC/Honduras.

Because definitive plans are not yet known, we are proceeding with an early Close-of-Service date of February 15, 2012, for all PC/Honduras Volunteers.   PC/Honduras staff will work with you to complete your Description of Service and provide other information you may need.

While we regret that your service in Honduras was cut short, your safety and security is our highest priority. It is this commitment to your safety and security that has guided our decisions. We greatly appreciate your service to Peace Corps and the people of Honduras and wish you well in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Carlos J Torres
Regional Director
Inter-America and Pacific Region

Even though it was final the 15th, it just that writing about it makes it seem more real, which is just sad. So I apologize for keeping you all out of the loop for so long but I have been kind of grieving and not wanting to deal with the reality of it all.

I am going to do another post soon with videos and pictures so you can see where I worked, my house and the goodbyes my family members gave me.

More soon.

Emily
